The purpose of Collections & Exhibitions at ACM is to enrich and inspire diverse audiences through the understanding and enjoyment of Australian performing arts history.
The objectives of the Business Unit are:
• To be Australia’s leading museum for the performing arts and create a world class venue to showcase the Australian Performing Arts Collection.
• To demonstrate excellence in the care, development, preservation, documentation, and display of the Performing Arts Collection
• To provide our audiences with meaningful experiences through dynamic exhibitions and public programmes, and innovative digital engagement.
• To recognise and celebrate our diverse communities and their role in the visual and performing arts
• To support contemporary practitioners through active collecting, exhibiting and commissioning.

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team in a fixed term position funded by Creative Victoria.
In this role, you will contribute to the successful preservation of significant audio-visual material. You will support the delivery of the Legacy Data Project, Project 2025 under the direction of the Registrar, Theatre and Popular Entertainment. Your responsibilities will include documentation, digitisation, housing and tracking magnetic tape to industry standard levels.

Part-time (3 days per week) fixed-term position for 8 months. Band 2.1 $60,426.08 (pro rata) plus superannuation.

Your Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• An appropriate tertiary qualification in Museum Studies/Collection Management or an equivalent qualification or experience in collections management.
Essential:
• Experience in the area of collections management, specifically the processes involved in cataloguing museum/gallery type collection material.
• Experience in the use of Axiell EMu or comparable database collection management software.
• Experience in photography and digital imaging.
• Knowledge of national and international preservation, conservation and museological frameworks, principles, ethics, related to multi-disciplinary heritage collections, including compliance for OH&S policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and an understanding of the sensitivities of museum collections, and their special requirements, in particular their organisation, handling, storage and transportation.
• Developed verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills and capacity to work effectively and collaborate, influence and negotiate with team members
Desirable:
• A current driver’s licence.
