The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to join the Collection Care and Management Business Unit as a Senior Conservator. The role will lead and manage the Objects Conservation team, delivering a range of exhibition and collection projects and programs.

The position entails working closely with conservation and registration colleagues and a broad range of internal stakeholders across the organisation, external stakeholders, and contractors on a variety of matters relating to the collection.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:

• Have proven experience in effectively leading specialist teams in a museum environment. They will be able to develop and implement team management strategies to achieve quality outcomes, including effective resource management, work scheduling and planning.
• Have well-developed expertise across a broad range of conservation activities and material types. They will have an in-depth understanding of cultural materials conservation including current approaches and relevant legislative and compliance requirements and be able to provide advice on complex problems and issues.
• Enjoy working collaboratively with others and have demonstrated experience coordinating concurrent activities. They can effectively liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders. They will have a pragmatic approach to collaborative problem solving and can prioritise their work and the work of their team to deliver quality outcomes and meet deadlines across multiple programs.
• Apply well-developed analytical skills to identify and resolve key issues, requirements, and risks. They will actively seek opportunities to improve services and practices with a view to progress work health and safety benefits, business efficiency, and modernisation with an outward and strategic thinking approach.
• Be an adaptive leader who can apply a variety of communication and leadership approaches to suit changing circumstances and environments. They have demonstrated their skills in fostering positive morale, behaviors, and workplace attitudes in a diverse working environment, particularly during times of ambiguity, deadline pressures and shifting priorities. They understand the importance of actively and purposefully developing their team and how to bring about improvements in knowledge and practice across the business unit and wider organisation.
