The Senior Curator reports to the Head of Photographs, Film and Sound. The position works under limited direction and in close association with the section’s other managers and senior curators to progress development and management of the Memorial’s PFS collections. The Senior Curator provides strategic and professional advice, represents the collection within the Memorial, and provides management and mentorship to a team of curatorial and collection staff to assess, document, and apply Memorial collection management principles and practice. Other responsibilities include liaising and negotiating with stakeholders and vendors, assisting with delivery of PFS priorities and projects, and working in line with and consideration of the Memorial’s Gallery Development project, which will see new exhibition spaces coming online 2026-2028. The Senior Curator also contributes to corporate governance, coordinates input for section business processes such as strategic and business planning, including budget and business case development.

The position requires strong curatorial and collection management experience, including demonstrated ability to lead a team of staff in the application of best museum practice to a collection of analogue and digital assets, and delivery of collection based projects. The position also works with staff and stakeholders to deliver rich content via a variety of platforms and methods, and undertakes some broader coordination activities as directed by the Head, PFS.
