• Proactively manage, edit and produce content aligned to the National Gallery’s artistic program, cultural agenda, key projects, ideas and initiatives for Gallery-owned platforms including the website and podcast channel.
  • Manage the logistics for high-level content projects that form part of the annual content plan and/or part of the Gallery’s strategic partnerships spanning film, digital, editorial and events.
  • Work collaboratively across internal departments including curatorial, digital, learning, marketing and communications to develop content for exhibitions and artistic projects as part of the Exhibitions Project Management Framework.
  • Work with the Principal Content Strategist to manage strategic content partnerships aligned to the Gallery’s positioning, objectives and vision.
  • Implement the annual marketing, communications, and content strategy for the American Friends of the National Gallery of Australia, including associated marketing and communications activity.
  • Support project management of the Gallery’s members publication, The Annual including editorial commissioning, writer and photographer contracting, image licencing and distribution.

The Senior Content Officer supports the Principal Content Strategist to deepen the National Gallery’s engagement with audiences, grow its community of supporters, and manage strategic content partnerships. In this role you will be responsible for content production, taking the lead on making the Gallery’s online platforms engaging destinations for stories and ideas.
As part of the Marketing, Communications and Visitor Experience portfolio you will work to attract and engage diverse audiences, position the brand, and create inspiring and memorable content and experiences for everyone who engages with the National Gallery.
This position is part of the Content & Digital department and is an ongoing full-time position. Some out of hours work is required to deliver large scale content projects and projects with international stakeholders. This role can be performed either onsite at the Gallery, or remotely from other locations.
